Squeezing in one last announcement for the month of January, since the new year brings with it the Class of 2K7's new books . . .

Those of you interested in discovering new books and voices in children's lit may want to check out "The Class of 2K7" -- a collaborative effort of 39 debut YA and MG authors from twenty-four publishers, representing all regions of the country. These authors (of which we are two) have the common goal of providing easy access to their books and resource materials to booksellers, librarians and teachers. The group has appointed regional coordinators to help schools, libraries and booksellers find a 2K7 author nearest them.

This cooperative approach has resulted in a website where viewers can research members and their books by genre, age group and region. So whether you're looking for authors in your region, or you want the convenience of having one location to find a diverse range of new books, or you're curious to see how 39 authors are working together to create a greater impact than any of them could make on their own, the Class of 2K7's website is a great place to start: www.classof2k7.com.
(In addition to the website, you can pose questions to the authors on their blog at http://community.livejournal.com/classof2k7/, or interact one-on-one with the group or request a visit via their forum at http://forum.classof2k7.com/ .)

Our group has been getting some good initial interest and reviews because of our efforts to work together and the usefulness and professionalism of our website. Publisher's Weekly did a story, and another will appear in an upcoming School Library Journal email newsletter. We've also been mentioned in several influential children's lit blogs, including Fuse #8 and Cynsations.

One last tidbit that may be of interest: The Class of 2K7 Quarterly Ezine is an easy way for you to stay in-the-know about this group and their books -- to follow their releases and find out how successful their collaborative efforts and books end up being! The Quarterly is designed for booksellers, librarians, and teachers, but all are welcome to subscribe. All subscribers will be entered in our quarterly giveaway of a selection of Class of 2K7 ARCs (or when possible, final books). To subscribe, please visit: http://www.classof2k7.com/ezine.php You can expect the debut issue in mid-January.
