During the first three months of 2007, we will discussion several of the recently announced major children's and young adult literature award winners. The specific schedule for each month is below, along with links to more information on each of the awards.
Please note that the 2007 American Library Association (ALA) Children's and Young Adult Literature Awards that we will be discussing will not be announced until January 22, 2007, at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Seattle. We will post the winners and honor books on CCBC-Net as soon as we can on January 22.
January 2007:
January 1-5: Announcements
**January 5-21: 2006 National Book Award 2006 Youth LiteratureWinner and Nominees:
Winner: The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing by M.T. Anderson
(Candlewick Presss) Nominees: Keturah and Lord Death by Martine Leavitt (Front Street) Sold by Patricia McCormick (Hyperion) The Rules of Survival by Nancy Werlin (Dial) American Born Chines by Gene Luen Yang (First Second/Roaring Brook Press)
January 22-23: Initial reaction to the 2007 American Library Association Children's and Young Adult Literature Award Winners, including the Newbery, Caldecott, Geisel, Printz, Sibert, Batchelder, and Coretta Scott King Awards. The awards will be announced the morning of January 22.
