[CCBC-Net] authority sources

Here is a question I have been asked many times in my career -

Please define:

Folk tales

Fairy tales

Tall tales

I have my own working definitions and remember in the early days referring to Arbuthnot as a source of info. Anyone want to suggest a newer resource to define this age old blending of story types. I think most times it is elementary teachers trying to define these things for children. I generally think that they are all Folk Tales - but I may be totally off base. Where do legends fit in? And then there is mythology too!

Thanks for any thoughts you might share!
