It has been wonderful to watch David's techniques grow and mature over the years. His training as an architect and his passion for detail translates into books that can be poured over for hours by readers of many ages. Boys
(including my husband) especially enjoy the technical aspects of his books while historians of either gender thrill at the accuracy. His sense of humor is unleashed in books such as -_Motel of the Mysteries_, _Baaa_, and
_Help, Let Me Out!_ And his wonderful, ground breaking -_Black and White_ was recognized for its originality. I was lucky enough to get a glimpse into David's unique sense of humor way back in 1982 when _Pyramid_ first came out. He was a speaker at a symposium at Villanova University and he autographed my copy of _Pyramid_. He spend quite some time drawing a tour bus, a pyramid, a billboard with flashing lights directing people to the pyramid, and lastly several people (he said he always drew them last since he did not like how his people turned out) with a text balloon above one of the tourists asking, "Can anyone tell me where to find the pyramids?"
