I have been reading the many posts this month on the topic of struggling readers. I was currently volunteering at a high school in my town when I noticed that one of the high schoolers I was working with had trouble reading what was assigned in class. I know that the teacher has noticed this problem as well and does not want this student to be discouraged from reading. I don't really know how to approach a student who feels more like a peer to me about this problem and how to offer them books to read that are at a more suitable level for them with out being hurtful. Any ideas?
