[CCBC-Net] struggling readers and poetry...

I surely hope someone is compiling all these into a list! I know I could use one at the Circulation Desk! LOL
A few years ago, Maria Mena at the main branch of the Leon County Library hosted a Poetry Slam. I believe that at the first one attendance was light. But since then, the local High Schools have gotten up their own Poetry Slam Clubs and now compete to see who will represent their schools. It's quite popular! I've been suggesting it to the Children's Librarian in Gadsden County, but so far, while she thinks it's interesting, that's as far as it goes. I'll keep trying!
