In Hilary McKay's latest, "Caddy Ever After," there is a fine, sensitive scene in which Rose sees Sarah not as a girl in a wheelchair, but as someone noticeable because she and little Rose share something. The chapter begins on page 51, narrated by Indigo about Sarah.
It is fine, fine writing and looks into the heart of deeply human people.
