I volunteer in Namibia, Africa with USAID setting up "reading rooms " in the rural schools. Many of the schools have no library at all and some have a few tattered books that sit on the shelves because of fear that they might get lost. The children are being instructed in English, their national language, but not the children's first or often second language. My challenge was finding good used books that were culturally appropriate and did not assume a western materialistic culture. Folk tales, high quality picture books, good non-fiction even if fairly worn were very welcome. If you want to share these books with children from Namibia, Okahandja, Otjivarongo, Walvis Baii etc, please ship them to me
