Dear all,

I manage an electronic discussion group for 37 curators of children's literature collections in several countries. I inherited this group from Dee Jones when she retired as curator of the de Grummond Collection. If you have announcements that you think would interest these curators, I will be glad to post them.

Here is an announcement that I was asked to post to the curators, and I thought that it might be of interest to the CCBC community, too.

The Stanford University Libraries & Academic Information Resources will be hosting "A Centenary Celebration of Crockett Johnson" on Oct. 20-21,

2006 in the Bender Room, 5th Floor Bing Wing, Green Library. This conference is open to all and has no charges.

The first day, the hundredth anniversary of his birth, is devoted to Crockett Johnson's life and work, featuring Philip Nel his biographer. The second day will explore the role of children's literature collections in academic libraries, both from the curator and the user point of view. Both William Gosling (University of Chicago) and Terri Goldich (University of Connecticut) will be speaking. For more information check out the Web site for the conference at

There is also a link to the tentative schedule at

I'm planning to attend and hope to see some old friends, and to make some new friends, there.

Best wishes,
