I just read the ARC of /Looking for Bapu/ by Anjali Banerjee. The story begins in Seattle two weeks after the towers fell, and gently and with humor deals with issues of prejudice amidst daily life. I thought Banerjee did a lovely job of weaving the primary theme of the book -- the death of Anu's beloved Bapu (his grandfather) and Anu's struggle to accept and integrate that loss -- within the weft of Pacific northwest life and the paranoias/fear/prejudice that jumped into the open following 9/11.
I note from the back that /Looking for Bapu/ is due out October 10 -- so, soon!
