Monica, I think you're right. We started our close reading of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe in my class today; having already discussed the significance of today's date in our history, my kids were quicker than ever to draw connections between the air raids Lewis mentions, World War II, the Narnian war, and our own contemporary conflicts. One fifth grader pointed out, "They fight the Narnia war because they can't fight the real war. It's like a dream about what's really bothering them."
