Do we really believe that each of us should permit his or her own assessment of what is important to override the stated purpose of this list? We are here to discuss children's literature; in my view, nobody has the right to unilaterally assert that some other thing is inherently more important than the enterprise for which our community exists and the rules by which we all abide.
