For those who have slapped my hands (and the hands of others) because we are "off topic", I am deeply hurt to think that book discussions are more important than the reality of the deep changes in this nation--and the world. Everything in the U.S. since a five-year-old September day has been gravely and deeply affected. Is there no one who has not taken a flight? Is there no one who has not seen what is happening to the Constitution? Is there no one whose 'phone and E- mail messages are in danger of governmental snooping? Is there no one who is not aware of an un-Constitutional war which is destroying our reputation in the world and so many lives? Is there no one who can see that Clytemnestra once again speaks the truth?

BOOKS DO NOT EXIST IN A VACUUM. Children do not exist in a vacuum. No--we few "off topic" were exactly on the crucial topic. Thus:

"Scholastic, the children?s publishing company, which had been working with ABC to use ?The Path to 9/11? as a teaching tool, said yesterday that it was removing materials related to the film from its Web site. A spokeswoman said a new study guide was being prepared that would explain the difference between a docudrama and a documentary."

There are some matters that are more important than the topic at hand.
