Coincidentally, I was just reading a message about the Americas awards and looked up the reviews for "Cinnamon Girl: Letters Found Inside a Cereal Box" by Juan Felipe Herrera. (A young girl's uncle is injured on 9/11 and she keeps their correspondence in a cereal box. It's written in verse.) The Kirkus review was the most positive. VOYA, SLJ, Booklist and PW were lukewarm at best. I haven't seen the book or spoken with any young readers about it. Have you had any experiences with/reactions to this book?
