So, what are some books you all have found for high school students who are reluctant readers? It's been too long since I was in high school(graduated in '77, gasp), but I still remember a class called "Cultural Themes" that was tied to music and pop culture. I was not a reluctant reader, but I find I can still remember the books in that class. Among them: Go Ask Alice The Bell Jar (why I ended up at Sylvia Plath's college maybe?) Johnny Got His Gun
I think it was then that The Lord of the Rings was being passed from kid to kid, too. I did not like fantasy then, but lots of my guy friends (the kids who loved Monty Python) shared them like candy.
I would love to hear what high school students might read for pure pleasure and pass on to friends.
