[CCBC-Net] Announcement: Wisconsin's Student-Choice Literature Award: The Golden Archer

Library media specialists of Wisconsin are reminded to begin thinking about having their students join the nearly 22,000 that participated in last year's selection of the winners of the Golden Archer Award. The deadline for submitting ballots isn't until March 15, 2007, but the beginning of the school year is a good time to start motivating students to read the books! One idea for keeping the titles on kids' radar screens is to have a permanent Golden Archer display where the titles remain from September-March and a laminated copy of the cover takes the place of the book when it is checked out. The Wisconsin Educational Media Association (WEMA), sponsor of the award, plans to produce a DVD about the award and the statewide Battle-of-the-Books that was established to promote Golden Archer titles. We welcome ideas from former participants as well as those who wish they had known more about the award earlier. If you have photos in electronic format of students participating in either Golden Archer or Battle-of-the Books activities, send them to Dawn Totzke at Cumberland High School dtotz at csdmail.com
