And I would most certainly never have gone on a lengthy childhood quest for a copy of Mother Carey's Chickens if not for the Disney movie Summer Magic, also starring Hayley Mills.

sought out and read the book versions:
Polyanna (Haley Mills version) Toby Tyler (book title: Toby Tyler or ten weeks with the circus) Zorro (any film version is actually better than the Macually Johnson book) The Three lives of Thomasina
