I absolutely second this. I took this book with me on my recent tour, and it made all that airplane travel a pleasure. It's engaging and witty--I kept laughing out loud. Among some circles, at least, it's not an obscure book. I mentioned it to someone at a party full of science fiction fanatics, and he simply said, about Connie Willis, "She's a genius."
