Summertime Waltz by Nina Payne, illustrated by Gabi Swiatkowska

(http://richiespicks.com/users/stories/picks/summertime_waltz.html) I've just about got this one memorized from reading or booktalking it to so many different audiences. I'll use again next week when I present at a kid's summer writing institute. Why this didn't win something or other last year still has me scratching my head.
Magic Beach by Alison Lester Finally back in print here! There is good reason to rejoice here in the States, for it has not been possible to purchase new copies of this incredibly imaginative and lyrical picture book for years. One of my Top 20 during my years of running the childcare center, MAGIC BEACH exudes salt, sand, seaweed, and shells, as it bounces back and forth between the real and imagined adventures of a buoyant cast of young characters at the coast. Australia's Alison Lester has done some great illustrating over the past 25 years. This is the best of the best.
A Summery Saturday Morning by Margaret Mahy, illustrated by Selina Young
  Razzle by Ellen Wittlinger

(http://www.richiespicks.com/users/stories/picks/razzle.html) Five years after first reading this one, the thought of Kenyon's mother still so pisses me off. And I still wonder what Razzle is doing now...
The Outcasts of 19 Schuyler Place by E.L. Konigsburg

  Acceleration by Graham McNamee
_http://www.richiespicks.com/users/stories/picks/acceleration.html_
(http://www.richiespicks.com/users/stories/picks/acceleration.html) In this year's end-of-the-school-year polling, out of 450 titles in Shari's classroom library, the eighth grade boys ranked this second place Best Outside Read just below LIGHTNING THIEF.

Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

(http://richiespicks.com/users/stories/picks/dairy_queen.html) Just saw a big ad for this in the New Yorker. Not surprised it's getting that kind of publicity.
  Zigzag by Ellen Wittlinger
