Thank you for suggestions of titles to pursue and the issue of "Who determines what is art-"

I loved _Celine_ and had forgotten about it. Thought of Zibby Oneal's _In Summer Light_ and Tracy Mack's _Drawing Lessons_ that deal with the feelings of artist daughters coping with their fathers. Also Cat Bauer's
_Harley like the Person."

Outsider Art, led me to think of Patricia Zelver's _The Wonderful Towers of Watts_ with wonderful pictures by Frane Lessac.

Someone mentioned opening the discussion to dance and music -
_This Land is Your Land_ with paintings by Kathy Jakobsen Elizabeth Partridge's books are great examples of the art of bookmaking:
_This Land was Made for You and Me: the Life & Songs of Woody Guthrie_ &
_John Lennon: All I Want is the Truth_.

K.L. Going's _Fat Kid Rules the World does for rock music what _Celine_ does for art.

Frank Morrison's cover for _Jazzy Miz Mozetta_ has so much music and dance movement.

Chris Raschka's illustrations evoke music. Books that cover musicians:
_Charlie Parker Played Be Bop_, _John Coltrane's Giant Steps_, &
_Mysterious Thelonious_. _Simple Gifts_ tackles visually what the song sounds like.

Wanted to add Walter Dean Myers and _Blues Journey_ because the Chirstopher Myers paintings look like the blues.

Why do these books come to mind? It's hard to explain. They're well done, stand out from other books, and like all good art they're able to capture the heart & imagination.
