Also, Hilary McKay's Permanent Rose (8 year old artist), the latest in a fine series about the artistic Casson family. (The earlier ones are Saffy's Angel and Indigo's Star.) These books also raise the question of who gets to decide what counts as art, and who should rightly be called an artist.

McKay is just a joy to read.
