Oh yippee, another good topic.

HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON. M.B. Goffstein's AN ARTIST, LIVES OF THE ARTISTS, and GOLDIE THE DOLLMAKER (is that one stretching it? I so love that book!) SNOWFLAKE BENTLEY. Definitely CELINE, as Elizabeth mentioned, one of the best YAs of all time. The wonderful books by Sandra Jordan and Jan Greenberg about artists: Jackson Pollock, Chuck Close, Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Frank Gehry. All of these are respectful, creative, or playful interpretations of the lives of artists. And several show the absolute dedication and passion required to create great art.

Are we thinking about visual arts exclusively, or music and dance too? More to come! leda Ballet of the Elephants
