[CCBC-Net] ALA Program: Magazines for Kids

I?d like to invite everyone attending ALA to a unique program, The Scoop on Magazines for Kids: Who?s Behind and What?s Inside the Covers, and Why Librarians Should be Paying Attention. This panel discussion features writer Robert San Souci, critic/historian Leonard Marcus, and two magazine editors/publishers representing Cobblestone/Carus and Highlights for Children. Handouts will include an updated annotated survey of magazines for children (originally published in School Library Journal in 2004) and sample copies of many magazines.
The field is extremely focused and dynamic, and offers unique opportunities for youth librarians. I hope you?ll come to the program to learn more and to contribute your own experiences using magazines for kids.
