A Newbery discussion blog is a great idea. Good luck with it! Our library offers a Mock Newbery election each January, too.
You might be interested in taking a look at the first reading list for our 2007 Mock Newbery election/discussion which has been posted at:
_http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/children/newbery_current.html_ (http://ww w.acpl.lib.in.us/children/newbery_current.html) We plan to have three additional lists; the next list will be available in early July. (We are looking for titles which should be added, too.)
While we don't have a blog, we do have an online discussion board at
_http://acplmocknewbery.proboards21.com/_ (http://acplmocknewbery.proboards21.com/)
We'd love to have your comments!

Friends and colleagues-I'm popping my blogger's cherry by setting up a blog to collect suggested titles for a Mock Newbery discussion. I've held a Mock Newbery Discussion for several years now in December at the Oakland Public Library-always a lot of fun (many of you have come before)-but always a lot of work to develop a list at the last minute and get the word out there. I promised myself that this year I would start gathering titles in June... and a blog seems the perfect place to collect them and to announce the discussion. Hmm...maybe even do some virtual voting? We'll see. Be the first to post to http://ninasnewbery.blogspot.com/
