Sorry to go off-topic, but in the words of the Pointer Sisters (or Shakespeare, I forget which), I'm so excited and I just can't hide it! Very good news... I launched my blog this morning: The PlanetEsme Book-A-Day Plan, http://planetesme.blogspot.com . In the spirit of my Bookroom where cookies have no calories as long as you stay, this special reading diet of the best new titles in children?s literature will allow you to consume as many books as you want and never gain a pound! I have been wanting to do this for a long time, I?m glad I kept my New Year?s resolution (even if it is June). I?ll be posting daily recommendations, suggestions that might help folks feel more confident about sharing books with children, and fun articles like how to start your own reading garden and how to prevent a nefarious slide of reading skills over the summer. In the coming weeks I also hope to launch a very special free offer.
Though I don?t know if it will ever replace the daily horoscope, I do hope you?ll bookmark Book-a-Day and check back regularly. Your feedback is welcomed, and questions for a ?reading advice column? are also solicited
(off-list, please oh please).
And if you are in the Chicago area, please oh please do come to our Pirate Party on June 11th, featuring authors Carolyn Crimi and Tom Lichtenfeld! Details at www.planetesme.com/bookroom.html.
Happy end-of-school, happy start-of-summer reading!
Best, Esme
