Title: ALA -EMIERT Latino Children's Literature Awards: Creation, Content & Community Date: 6/24/2006 Time: 1:30 PM- 3:30 PM Location: Morial Convention Center room: Rm. 244-245 Meeting Type: Open
Description: The Pura Belpr?, Tom?s Rivera and the Am?ricas Award all highlight different facets of culturally diverse literature for children and young adults. Sandra Balderrama will moderate a panel of U.S. Representatives of the three awards, along with award winning authors Monica Brown, Viola Canales and Amada Irma P?rez, will discuss the meaning of "authentic" cultural content, the value of the awards from a creative standpoint; and the community of readers--Latino and non-Latino alike--for whom these books matter.
