I, too, loved all the Black Stallion books and was disappointed when I "ran out of them" at my beloved local library. Also Anne of Green Gables and the Little House books, of course, as many have already mentioned, and I loved a book called Girl of the Limberlost, which had spoke to my love of the out-of-doors. A very special aunt took me on an excursion to a downtown bookstore to buy me a copy of Anne of Green Gables (in hardcover!), and I wish I had thought to ask her why she chose this book to give me. Was it one that she had loved as a child too? Anyway, she left me with a great memory of the day.
