I have so enjoyed reading everyone's offerings about what books have changed their lifes, or at least affected them deeply. Here is mine.
When I was about nine I read "Born Free" by Joy Adamson. Who knows why one book resonates deep in our heart and soul, and another passes us by? This one became my passion for life, introducing me to the world of Kenya and all its beauty and drama. I continued reading about the people and animals of this country, and now have a large book case with nothing but books about Kenya. (because, of course, I have to BUY them, not just read them from the library) I have travelled to Kenya twice to collect stories, wrote a book about my own safari, delight in telling the stories that were given to me, and was told by Kagathi, my Kikuyu guide/translator/friend, "You belong here in Africa." And it all started with that book.
