[CCBC-Net] Childhood reading

I've stopped myself from posting since many of my favorites have already been mentioned, but this one I couldn't pass. What shall we do with the Boo-Hoo Baby? After seven years I can still hear the voice of this one first grade boy that loved that book so much he would read it everyday during our self-selected reading time. I hope some day he will be the one talking about it.

Other books I loved. . .

The Land I Lost - about a boy's childhood in Vietnam The Story of Jumping Mouse by John Steptoe Galimoto Missing May The Woman who Outshone the sun The Greatest of all....the Eric Kimmel version Tonight by the Sea

And my list goes on and on. I tend to remember books along with the events in my life that were going on as I read the book. So Maniac Magee goes with my 9 year old son, who's now 22. Ramona Quimby with my 8 year-old daughter, now 27. Missing May was summer, as I was taking a literature class and would show up in class with red eyes from all the crying I did while reading the book.

Hi
Just thought I'd share this with you
When Billy was born, I gave him a copy of a book called Boo Hoo Baby'

authorr??? illustrator??? In three days, Billy will be 2 years old. His Florida grandmother told me today that he still carries Boo Hoo Baby with him everywhere he goes. In light of the present discussion I wonder if - twenty years from now, if this topic comes up - I wonder if this would be a book that he would remember from his "childhood"
In giving it to him, I just thought it was a fun book full of sounds that babies like.
