The Snyder book that changed my life is "The Changeling." I got it from a book club, I think, and was astonished that it made me CRY! I like her others, but only "The Changeling" affected me so powerfully. I also loved Little House and
"The Witch of Blackbird Pond," but it was L. M. Montgomery's Emily trilogy that set me on my path to children's lit scholarship. I used to get homesick for PEI, though I'm a born-and-bred Texan. Now THAT'S powerful stuff!
