Linda's and Donna's posts on library experiences evoked my first library memory: In the spring of my kindergarten year, my class took a field trip to the library .... this consisted of walking a whole two blocks
... once there, each of us were presented with our OWN library card. I remember how thrilled I was that this little card had MY NAME on it and the library was trusting ME to borrow, read, and return books! I was empowered and instantly knew that the library was the best institution because it was the first one to recognize me as an individual! I guess it also explains why I have chosen youth services ....
