The book that changed my life is undeniably The Secret Garden. My strong connection to that book came from the many ways I identified with Cinderella-like Mary and experienced her transformation as a possibility for my own life. I am sure I am where I am - teaching children's literature - because I sensed how a mythic story can motivate a young life (and continue to matter lifelong). Who knows which book that might be?
