What a great discussion! Is anyone printing these up in book form? Creating a qualitative study? ;)
I can honestly say I would not be sitting at my desk in a children's room of a library without A WRINKLE IN TIME (like Deb and Maia said) and so many other L'Engle books, along with Anne Shirley and Laura Ingalls Wilder and Nancy Drew, all of whom were my dear friends by 5th grade.
When my husband and I went to Prince Edward Island for the L.M. Montgomery festival 2 summers ago, he finally asked me, "Do these people know that Anne and Diana and Gilbert aren't real?" I just looked at him--"What do you mean, they aren't real?"
Thanks for a good topic! Julie
