Ditto to so many already mentioned, but has anyone mentioned the fabulous Elizabeth Enright (Saturdays, Thimble Summer, Gone-Away Lake)? Her artist's uncanny ability to evoke a sense of place by engaging all five senses was so satisfying to this displaced reader.
