I checked out Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak many times from my local library. I still adore this book, though now I own my own copy.
I have strong memories of being read to by my teachers in grade school. This is how I remember what teacher taught what grade!
1st grade- Ramona the Pest by Bev Cleary read by Ms. Lehmann 2nd grade-Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl read by Ms. Reddy 3rd grade-Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls read by Ms. Reeves
They must have read other books as well-but these three titles evoke what was best about that time in my life.
