I adored A Room Made of Windows by Eleanor Cameron. Also Very Far Away from Anywhere Else by Ursula K. LeGuin. And ditto on Pushcart War by Jean Merrill. Radical then, and now. Ditto on Harriet the Spy and The Egypt Game, which inspired hours and hours of imaginative play with my friends. I recall I felt betrayed at the end of the Egypt Game - how could they leave egypt behind? I wanted it to go on and on. Almost forgot: Fireweed by Jill Paton Walsh. Dark is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper.
Less stellar but reread many times: Best Friend by Shirley Simon.
I wish I could remember more titles. It is good to try.
Thanks for this special topic.
