Hi, everyone
I am not sure if it is only the book or the reason for writing the book that has always intrigued me. I hope many of you will remember Countee Cullen's The Lost Zoo. When Cullen was given the "lowest of the low" as ome described his students, Cullen rather than accepting this degrading idea, worked taught his students about LFE throught the trials of the animals that did not make it on to the ark! He taought about the fruitlessness of fighting in the poetry of the PushmePullyou..This animal had two heads and neither head wanted to be LAST so they drowned while fighting. The Snake that Walked Upon His Tail died of vanity. So proud, he wanted to be the LAST to enter the ARK. His little feet got tangled in a vine and he drowned. The Suillililligee drowned, so tired of being laughed at. There are so many lessons. Many of those same students went on to become docters, lawyers and some school teachers.
