[CCBC-Net] Adult Fantasy for Middle Schools

If they like a bit of humor mixed in with their fantasy, I would highly recommend:
Terry Pratchett's "Disk World" series. I believe he started out for adult readers and then switched to targeting some of them for teen readers.
Piers Anthony's "Xanth" and the "apprentice Adept" series. Neither have the
'soft porn' feel of some of his other series, and have a liberal dose of humor (moreso in the 'Xanth' series, which is a world built upon the ignoble pun).
Other more 'serious' work:
Tolkien, of course.
Anne McCaffrey's "Pern" series, although a mix of fantasy and sci-fi, she's built a complex and believable world.
Terry Brook's "Shannara"
Terry Goodkind's "Stone of Truth" (My first thought in reading the first book, however, was 'Gosh, this is just a re-working of "Star Wars"!' My opinon of that book has not changed but he's taken the series in a good direction.)
