I'm jumping in to this discussion without having read the previous entries to say that one of the best books on the holocaust I've read is DARKNESS OVER DENMARK by Ellen Levine, a colleague, who visited Denmark and personally interviewed Danes who risked their lives working for the underground, and visited some of the worst concentration camps in Europe as research for her book. She has told the story of the Danish involvement in rescuing Jews with spine-chilling stories that are a testimonial to the abiding strength of the human spirit. If this book hasn't been discussed, I strongly recommend it to all who are interested in books for young people on the holocaust.
