"Has anyone mentioned "No Pretty Pictures: A Child of War" by Anita Lobel? It's an excellent, unforgettable autobiographical account of Ms. Lobel's life during WWII and afterwards as a refugee in Sweden."
I agree. It is an outstanding memoir but I was puzzled that it was published as a book for children. Although Lobel is a wonderful children's book author/illustrator, I thought the memoir was clearly written for an adult audience. My impression was that, had Lobel not already been known as a children's author, the book would have been published for adults.
