I'm glad to hear others' reactions to this collection.
I bought it partly because I was using Hoberman's poem "Brother" to accompany the book _Stories Julian Tells_ and thought the class would enjoy hearing Hoberman read her own poem, Her introductory comments about it were an added bonus. But, like Monica, I felt a number of the illustrations detracted from the poems and left the book in my office, playing the CD and showing the version from _Sing a Song of Popcorn_
(with Marc Simont's illustration) for those who wanted to see the text.
Many thanks to Lee Bennett Hopkins for the explanation about the costs and challenges of compiling anthologies (which probably explains why even the
_Poetry Speaks_ CD doesn't include all the poems in the book).
