I work at B&N (one of the big ones) and I can definitely say that the book does well with grownups. In fact, the kids' dept. has to keep fighting to keep the book because the music/biography dept. keeps taking copies. It makes for a great coffee table book
(I don't mean that as an insult). I would love to compare sales--kids' dept. vs. adult. Too bad there's no way of knowing. I wonder if some of the other lengthy nonfiction stuff could work in a similar way. Maybe making crossover books is the way to go.
