Here is the CCBC-Net discusson schedule for March.
We also welcome general announcement during the first few days of the month.
We'll begin our Batchelder discussion later today.
March 1-7: 2006 2006 Batchelder Winner and Honors: The Batchelder Award goes to the publisher of the outstanding translated book for children published in the United States. We'll start the month of March with a discussion of this year's Batchelder winner and honor book(s).
March 8-14: 2006 2006 Sibert Winner and Honors: During the second week of March, we'll talk about the 2006 Sibert Award winner and honor book(s). This award recognizes outstanding books of information published for children in the United States.
March 15-21: 2006 Coretta Scott King Winner and Honors: The Coretta Scott King Awards are given to an African American author and an African American illustrator for an "outstandingly inspirational and educational contribution" to literature for children. The books promote understanding and appreciation of the culture of all peoples and their contribution to the realization of the American dream. We'll talk about the 2006 CSK winners and honor books during the third week in March.
March 22-31: 2006 Belpre Winner and Honors: The Pura Belpre Awards go to a Latino/Latina writer and Latino/Latina illustrator whose work "best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth." This award is given every two years, and considers books from the prior two publishing years. We'll wind up our CCBC-Net discussion in March talking about the 2006 Belpre winners and honor book(s).
