I was pleased and honored to be one of five judges for the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award this year. We selected the awardees last week and they are:
Winner: SONG OF THE WATER BOATMAN by Joyce Sidman (Houghton) Honor Books: A WREATH FOR EMMETT TILL by Marilyn Nelson (Houghton); A MAZE ME by Naomi Shihab Nye (Greenwillow/Harper).
Fabulous books, all three!
