Playing games with genre - mixing, blending, stirring things up
- is also one of the characteristic traits of postmodern writing, along with self-referentiality and other things that have already been mentioned. I confess that I have not read *Criss Cross* yet myself, but from what I have gleaned from this discussion, "postmodern" is one of the adjectives that seems to apply.
