Does anyone else feel that awards are just part of our capitalistic society... solely urging authors, illustrators, and publishers to complete something that is worthy of an award instead of what their true feelings or thoughts are. I see the good and bad in them. I was wondering if anyone had a similar opinion. Basically, I think people are creating work to be recognized versus creating work to influence people and children.
