One book I thought might get some HONOR ATTENTION (read award lovin') was 47 by Walter Mosley. I know he usually writes for adults (Devil in a Blue Dress, Gone Fishin'), detective stories--anyway I loved his YA, 47. It seemed completely original, giving African Americans a mythical hero, a sort of John Henry of their own. I was hoping that 47 and Show Way might get picked. Has anyone else read 47 and what did you think?
