I have a series of six photo essay books, Get Around Books published by Carolrhoda, that discusses reasons why travel is necessary (i.e. shipping cargo) and different modes of travel used around the world. The reading level is about 2nd grade; makes a good read-aloud for K. They might help. Hope you like them! Lee Sullivan Hill, author

Hey all -- I need to find a K level book (read aloud, not independent reading level) that addresses transportation as a topic. That is, something about why we travel, or the many things trucks and trains bring to us, etc, as opposed to just a book about kinds of trucks or trains or planes or cars or bikes or....
We need this to the "anchor" book in a text set about transportation to meet state curriculum standards. We already have the many wonderful titles about bridges and construction vehicles and such, but I just can't find a title that looks at the big question in an accessible way.
Any suggestions?
Thanks- Elliott batTzedek Curriculum and Collections Development Children's Literacy Initiative
