Children's Literature Specialist & Reference Librarian

The University Libraries and Archives, Emporia State University, seeks candidates for a 12-month faculty position of Children's Literature Specialist and Reference Librarian at the level of Assistant Professor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Children's literature promotion and outreach,
* Collection development,
* Children's literature reference service and library instruction, and
* General reference service and library instruction

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent; experience with print and electronic general and children's reference sources and/or specific coursework in children's literature studies or reference services; understanding of emerging technologies and trends in reference service; excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to meet tenure requirements of teaching/performance of primary duties, research, and service.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional advanced degree in English or a related field; strong basis in children's literature studies; experience in children's reference services and/or general reference services; library instruction; experience with electronic information databases and Microsoft Office or related software; use of HTML and Web authoring tools.
