[CCBC-Net] series

I have come to realize that we, as adults, are series readers in our own way. Personally, when I find writers that hit a chord with me I want to read all the titles they have written. How many adults waited anxiously for the next in the Jan Karon series, or Sue Grafton's alphabet mysteries? How many adults are "hooked" on Harry Potter? We all enjoy reading books where we feel a kinship with the characters or are moved by the writer's style. Should we not be willing to allow young readers the same experiences? I have enjoyed reading the posts from people working with children that acknowledge series have their own niche in children's reading.
